In a recent order the Delhi High Court has directed the Government of
India to initiate steps to prohibit schools from serving cold drinks
and junk food in their canteens based on the PIL filled by NGO, Uday
Foundation.
We as children want to tell the businesses and the Government that we
have the right to make our choices about the good food to eat, and we
would like to do it with respect to our parents, to managements of
schools and of course to the processed food industry as well. Your
growth is important to us, but perhaps far more important to us is our
survival and that of our brothers and sisters in the City and in the
Country!
The students of Father Agnel School are distressed at the commercial
onslaught of junk food manufacturers and vendors, against the children
of India which is compounded by the fact that School Canteens serve
junk food of all types, seriously harmful to the health of the
children, and jeopardizing the growth of the children. For far too
long, children are being subjected to this food oppression with no
voice of their own allowing the companies and vendors to the business
at the cost of their health.
We request you to please be part of us in this campaign for our
healthy kids and wealthy India.
